I suppose it was only a matter of time but Retrostar would like to announce their latest ex-drummer - Brendan Coleman! Fantastic drummer but he's had to go back home to London for reasons I suppose I can't really go into on this platform. Brendan is in the process of setting up a new band, so best of luck with that.

So, where do Retrostar go from here? Good question. Peter, Gordon and John are now taking stock and considering their options. I know that's what footballers say when they're nearing the end of their contract, but it would seem appropriate.

Well, we were supposed to gig last Friday (23/06/06) but sadly, John done his back in so we had to cancel. No matter, we'll likely play there again at some point, the management knew we weren't pissing them about, John even brought his sick note in (the diagnosis from the chiropractor!) so he's in the clear!

I hope you realise I am missing the Mexico-Angola game to write this! Anyway, finally updated the gigs page, we're playing on 23/06/06 at The Pharaoh's Nighclub in Coatbridge so see one of the band for a ticket - they're free remember!

Since there's a new lineup and we haven't been playing live for a year, we've decided to record a demo before we gig. We're booked in on the 30th and 31st of March to do three, possibly 4 new songs. We're all looking forward to it!

According to this part of the website it would appear as if Retrostar did nothing in 2005. I suppose that would be true for most of it but it was far from uneventful. First up Stuart rejoined, then left, then John, Peter and Gordon took a few months' break, then started writing again, then recruited new drummer, Brendan Coleman. Such is Brendan's quality on the drums, we're looking at doing a new demo shortly then getting back on the gigging trail. Keep your ears peeled!

It is with regret that the three remaining members of Retrostar announce the departure of Jim as drummer. There is no animosity or bitterness from any parties, but a feeling of sadness that he has quit. It's something Jim feels he has to do, and genuinely, we wish him all the best. We do hope to secure the services of another suitable drummer as soon as possible.

Two very different gigs played this month. The first was at the Soundhaus and the second was at Barfly. The Soundhaus gig was pretty dire as two bands didn't turn up so that meant it was a bit flat with little there in attendance to listen to us. However those who did attend welcomed us back to gigging and thought we were as good, if not better, than before. The Barfly gig was not exactly busy either but the four of us, despite initial nerves got stuck in and really enjoyed it. More encouraging words from those in attendance.

"Turning Again" and "This is your Life" now available on this site. You can now leave your feedback on the guestbook which I have returned. I've got rid of all the abusive messages that were on it and in future any that are left will be removed immediately. After we've had a good laugh at them, of course. If you are going to leave a message on the guestbook, we would appreciate if you do not use any more exclamation marks than is necessary in any one sentence. More than one exclamation mark is a dead give away, unless you are taking the piss, leave them out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oops!

You know what, folks? I've just switched on my computer to find that apparently I've subscribed to a load of gay newsletters and their like. I wonder if there's any connection between me turning off the guestbook and someone doing this? Now that there's no way anyone can leave their negative feedback, they've resorted to this. Pretty immature, I'd say. And you know what else? There's only one way that whoever subscribed me to those lists got my email address. It's not on this site anywhere. I haven't left it on the guestbook. I did give it to all members (both current and ex) of Retrostar however. Make of that what you will.

I've decided to get rid of the guestbook. There's too much crap in it now. I could have just got rid of the offending
messages but that would have looked like censorship. To be honest, it just went beyond the stage of simply being an embarressment
to whoever left the messages to not reflecting very well on the band. Sorry for those that would like to leave a message for us to
read, but it's not worth it any more, especially when we get criticised for leaving it up, for all to see, warts and all. Damned if
you do, damned if you don't.

Since I got myself a new digital camera I thought I might as well take some photos and they're here for your viewing pleasure.
There's a whole one of me right enough so I hope that will suffice for the Peter fans out there (all none of you!).

Now all the drama of the personnel side of things has died down, I'm quite happy to report that Jim, the new drummer is settling
in nicely. We've now done six rehearsals in all and we've got seven songs up to scratch. Quite good going. I'm most pleased to
say that being in a band is fun again. At times, Retrostar MkI felt like a job that we weren't being paid to do. When the fun goes
out of it, you're left with nothing. Anyway, we're all pretty confident we'll be gigging again soon!

Retrostar have decided to part company with Stuart McGowan. It was becoming increasingly obvious that rising tensions were
not simply going to go away by themselves. We are however, delighted to announce a new drummer who will be announced as soon as
we can get all the details on him!

Well, we were all tired after recording Vultures and Second Again at Urban Studios
last night but we're all satisfied with the results. You can hear the two tracks on the sounds page and let us know what
you think. We plan to record more songs soon enough at the same studios. We're all grateful to Simon for his hard work and for only £90 you can't
go wrong. Check back to the site soon to see the photos taken of the occasion.

Recording session booked at Urban Studios on 26/11/03. After much discussion, we've decided to record "Second Again" and "Vultures".
We're all really looking forward to it as it gives us a chance to show what we can do in that respect. It also shows that we're now moving forward
to a different level. What we do record will be made available as MP3s on the website. More news after it happens.

Despite being an organisational nightmare, Retrostar finally played The Halt with a great reception from those who came along. From the point
of view of the band, we were much better than the McSorley's gig but again it wasn't perfect. However, the learning curve isn't as steep as
initially anticipated! Thanks to Alan Murphy who stepped in to warm up the crowd after the original support pulled out.

First gig played at McSorley's Bar. Generally positive response from most people questioned although we, the band, think we can be much better
than we were. Roll on The Halt!
